Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020
Under the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020, there is now no need to establish grounds for divorce. The sole ground is now “irretrievable breakdown”. The new Court fee is now £593.00, and the new Act removes the ability of your spouse to contest the divorce. Please do e-mail us on hlewis@arthurlegal.co.uk if you wish to commence divorce proceedings under the new Act.

We are able to see clients in our offices and can also do home/hospital visits where appropriate. Please note appointments relating to Certified Copies and Swearing Statutory Declarations attract a £25.00 plus VAT charge, plus a £5.00 (no VAT) charge per Statutory Declaration, £2.00 (no VAT) per Exhibit, and £5.00 (plus VAT) per Certified Copy. Please note we cannot provide identity confirmation for non-existing clients.
Stamp Duty
If instructing us on your purchase, there are different rates for first time buyers, buy-to-let, and first time buyers. Please do contact us, if you are thinking of buying and would like your stamp duty calculated in advance.
Anna Arthur & Associates was founded in 1979 by Anna Arthur, who by then had several years’ experience of both a London niche general practice, and a major specialist family and estate planning firm. The firm had offices in a busy high street in Wimbledon for twenty years, before moving to be based in Ripley (a twenty minute drive from Wimbledon, with far easier client parking facilities) in 2003. After the move, more than 90% of the Wimbledon office clients followed Anna Arthur & Associates to Ripley, a telling tribute to the quality of legal services provided.
